Day in the Uintas
Aug. 7th, 2010 07:33 pmI pulled off a nice redpoint of Dream Catcher* today. I need to remember to love my utter and complete inability to multitask: The corollary is that I can micro-focus.
Time seemed to slow down while I was leading today. I was surprisingly cool, calm, and commited. All the holds seemed magnified in my field of vision--even the tiny ones. I linked all the delicate sequences just right. And if it came down to it, I was ready to take the fall, no blubbering, no whining.
In short, I'm proud.
*The quartzite isn't nearly as reddish as that picture makes it out. It's more of a pinkish-grey. Blame the blazing late afternoon sun.

Summiting the Chief
Jul. 14th, 2010 10:41 pmWednesday, after 11 hours and approximately 2,000 feet of climbing, we topped out on the Stawamus Chief. The Chief is located about an hour north of Vancouver along the panoramic Sea to Sky highway.
Wednesday also happened to be our wedding anniversary.

Sherlock Holmes on the big screen
Jan. 7th, 2010 11:14 amIt's probably a good thing that I've never read Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Because anytime I go see a movie based on a book, I'm sorely disappointed.
Last night I went to see the new swashbuckling version of Sherlock Holmes. ( Thoughts... )
